Expanding Our New Orchard Apiary

Today we moved another five hives to the Orchard Apiaries. The weather was appalling. It constantly rained. Andy G and I were soaked; however, the temperature was mild, so the bees were in a loose cluster, and a few even came out for a quick flight.

I checked the hives had sufficient fondant to keep them going. Most still had fondant from the last round of feeding. I add fondant in 750g tubs; it's a little time-consuming, but some of my hives don't need any winter feed, so a small amount works for me. It also encourages me to attend my apiaries regularly and check the hives.
